In today's NSA revelations:
- Yep, an NSA analyst can and has listen to your phone calls without a warrant, and considers email and text messages open as well (but we already knew the IRS didn't consider email private). It occurs to me: How much email across the backbone is encrypted? Authenticated SMTP has become the norm for end-user to ISP, but ISP-to-ISP?
- Similar from the Washington Post.
- It's worth noting that FISA court judges are appointed by the U.S. Chief Justice, for the next 20 years that'll be John Roberts.
- The FBI is claiming that this dragnet process is necessary because it can't file 300 more National Security Letters a year
