Penguin scraps degree requirement:

between holding a degree and performance in a job.
This announcement follows a series of financial companies dropping academic

My sister is an editor for one of Pearson's other companies, and they announced layoffs of 10% (4000 souls) this year, Pearson-wide. Not sure how this ties in, unless the goal is to replace higher-paid graduates with lower-paid non-degree holders.

they detract from the conversation. Commercial plugs are fine,
if they are relevant to the conversation, and if you don't
try to pretend to be a consumer. Annoying endorsements will be deleted
if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and
more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave
such ridicule in place.
