The Ready Player One backlash, explained —
The Ready Player One book used to be considered a fun romp. Then Gamergate happened.
I read the book, enjoyed it, though many of the cultural references were actually a bit
after my time, but as the hype machine for the movie has been ramping up and other people
in my social circles have been discovering the book, I'm looking at it more critically.
