East Area Rapist caught

2018-04-25 23:16:18.409969+00 by Dan Lyke 1 comments

Former police officer arrested for 51 rapes and 12 murders. Joseph James DeAngelo is suspected of the crimes attributed to the "East Area Rapist", "Golden State Killer" and the "Original Nightstalker".

This seems to have been a cold case for 30 years. Michelle McNamara, Patton Oswald's late wife, had a long-researched book on the killer titled I'll Be Gone In The Dark published posthumously. An excerpt: Letter to the Golden State Killer.

Bruce Harrington, brother of one of the murder victims, speaks. He was a driving force in keeping interest in the case active.

MeFi thread.
