Sitting here thinking about how, in order to fix my scanner, I tried several Ubuntu ftpd packages, and eventually ended up fixing the proftpd config so it didn't crash on attempted start.

And how these things used to just work. And what we've given up for all of this "flexibility".

Dan Dan Dan ... Lennart Poettering knows best! We aren't supposed to use FTP anymore. Why are you fighting against the perceived wisdom of the day? Do you really want to make Lennart cry as you actually get stuff done?

Ya know, I suppose I wouldn't complain as much if I just compiled the damned things from source rather than having the packaging be broken, and then I have to figure out which is the least broken one to work with.
