Silly question

Silly question: Anyone out there exploring the intersection between ear buds, in-ear monitors, and hearing aids? Charlene is getting frustrated with her hearing aids (fit and fragility), and ear buds are getting more socially accepted, and I have to think someone's ahead of the curve here.

Newer Airpods Pro have a hearing aid mode, from what I understand. https://www.apple.com/airpods-pro/hearing-health/ has some info.

It looks to be pretty great. A friend of ours had Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SSHL) in one ear, and is using Airpods Pro as part of the therapy. (like, mirroring sound from one side to the other for daily life, also playing music into the damaged ear as a way of perhaps getting some response). You can dig deep down in the configurations and tweak stuff.

Hearing a lot of good things about the Airpods Pro. UnCovered Myths @UncoveredMyths@beige.party testimonial, a wandering happenstance @joXn@wandering.shop mentions the Apple how-to for 2 and 3 models.

Zimmie @bob_zim@infosec.exchange mentions that custom-molded IEMs can be covered by insurance(!).

Gryphon Myers @gryphonmyers@mastodon.social mentions some portable amps with EQ, including the CrinEar Protocol Max<?a> and the JCALLY JM98 MAX one vendor)

Stylus @stylus@social.afront.org linked to this revear of the Nuheara IQbuds2, which makes the IQbuds2 MAX sound pretty good, except that the reviews on the Android app store are... mixed.

Irenes (many) suggests the Bose Hearphones, but they're a 2017-2020 product, alas.

laura lemay @lemay@mastodon.social reports Airpod fit issues, and speaks highly of the Jabra Enhance hearing aids.
