A walk on the steep side - supposedly in a Chinese National Park comparable to Zion in the US.

Hua shan Mountain, apparently. And some will go up parts of it in the snow though I doubt they did the planked section.... who knows.

Now on my list of things to do before (perhaps shortly before) I die.

Hah.

Reminds me a little of the trail up Half Dome in Yosemite.

Yep, I flashed on the Half Dome trail mixed with that one short section of the Hidden Canyon trail in Zion that's quite similar to the planked section, except that the surface is an off-camber ledge with lots of sand.

Whoa. Gives me vertigo. But if you like those, you might like this bike trail:

Based on the other photo's (hit the right/left arrow at the top of the page) as well as the surreal and photo-retouched aspects of the bike trail photo's.. I think Crasch's bike trail is not real, or at least, not entirely. but he does have a neat Butterfly Picture

dashing collects photos of the weird and beautiful from around the net. So the photos in his journal aren't taken by him or necessarily have any relation to each other.

These photos appear to originally come from this page:

http://www.hansrey.com/latestadventures.htm

According to site, the shots were taken at the Cliffs of Moher in Ireland. Hans Rey, the site proprietor, appears to be into "extreme mountain biking". So there's a good chance they aren't photoshopped.

The Cliffs of Moher pics are likely genuine and those guys are crazy.

Does anyone else find it amusing that they're riding in circumstances where a fall means certain death, and they're wearing helmets?

#Comment Re: made: 2007-01-22 17:37:12.411625+00 by: meuon

I wear a helmet when doing 100+ ft rappels (and shorter) It makes you feel safer, and will help protect you from those less than fatal mishaps. small rockfalls, bumping into rock faces.. flying bicycle parts.. and makes it easier for mortician to make you presentable.

I never wore a helmet while climbing, although I'd consider it on some more strung-out leads or places where there's loose stuff above. And, heck, nowadays I might just wear it for the sake of wearing it, between then and now I've had at least one concussion from an inline skate accident that occurred while I was wearing a full side-coverage helmet.

There's also balance and familiarity issues; I have occasionally gotten on a bike without a helmet and it just feels weird.

Those guys AREN'T amateurs, so the helmet may be part of an endorsement deal or something, though it appears that ride was for giggles.... still they had a professional photographer along.

The guy's crazy as hell..... photos with the captions like Just before riding down a 14 story skyscraper peg the pucker meter for me.

Got the page which includes the link to riding down the skyscraper? Looks like a fairly stock "Aussie style" rappell setup, but is a neat stunt.
