I don't know if you've run into this "Burn Lounge" (I'm not going to link 'em) thing that's floating around, I've had at least on person ask me to take a look at their "store" on it, but Nancy has a fantastic response from Mike on what it is and why friends don't approach friends with MLM schemes.

At age 64, I've had a lot of experiences in the world. Some of the most objectionable, and I include 3 years in the US Army, were when "friends" invited me over to "share something that has changed our lives". MLMs are, to me, the domain of users. Gandhi listed among he seven deadly sins "wealth without work" and other than being a CEO of Home Depot, MLMs have the corner on that sin.

There are two or three levels of MLM cultists. I had a cousin who ran one like a religious calling and she alienated half the family. She eventually went broke doing it and became an evangelist, a real one.

There are also people who see it as a convenient tax scam. I friend of mine was a doctor in a small city in Wisconsin, and he knew some doctors who joined Amway so they could get part of their house and even local travel deducted as "business expenses". I should point out that Madame Petronius is an IRS agent, and she assures me that the feds are on to this one.

Then there are the promoters, who are just the latest version of the old snake-oil men. I saw some magazines aimed at the MLM market, and you realize after a while that the same guys show up running new ventures every year or so, in new jurisdictions.

Dan, it may be time to close posting to this. This page shows up as high ranking page if you search for BL (Google, Page 2) and I fear it will attract the clueless zealot bloodsucking MLM mosquitoes like the post above.

Nah, let 'em come. The first thing they'll see is what's wrong with it. If they're too blind to see that, then they can't be helped anyway.
