Maybe it's just that I live in Marin County, and that Drake high school has such a cool and well developed drama program, but I can't possibly imagine how fucked up and clueless the school administrators would have to be to do this: Three students in Cross River, New York high school suspended for saying "Vagina" during reading from The Vagina Monologues.

[Rant] Our upside down society has sanctioned acceptability of violence, hatred and murder at incredible levels: in video games, movies, plays, and life. That the one beautiful thing that (hopefully) we will all take part in, enjoy and share with loved ones: sex and the understanding and enjoyment of our sexuality is 'taboo' and 'age inappropriate' at a high school function, is insane. Girls disciplined after mouthing vagina!
Perhaps if I sent those ideas to the school newspaper.....

that is grounds for being expelled, not just suspended.
