I think you're overlooking the wider implications of a bunch of immature mouth-breathers being put in charge of a scanner that allows them to see through clothing.

Next time I get asked to go through one of those (Miami has them) I'm asking for a pat-down instead. Seems to be some controversy over their effects on the body, plus I thing they are our government looking for a technological solution to social ills. They LIKE blinky lights.

Leaving Guyana and Dominica, they go through my bags by hand (as well as x-ray them) and politely and professionally pat me down. The security people have the demeanor and attitide of current or ex-military and are very efficient and alert. No "mouth breathers" in sight. Of course, the job market is very competitive and such a job is an esteemed and sought after position.
