I've deliberately written some documents, even important ones, in the first person. It doesn't necessarily make you look ignorant. What it does, is make the document look informal.

Oh, I'm not objecting to the use of "I", I'm objecting to use of "I" as the object of a sentence, as in: "George was seeding rumours about Bob and I". It seems like many people, professional writers included, think that if there's a compound object one should switch "me" to "I", and it grates on I me.

I avoid writing things in that structure, since I know "Dan and me" is correct and yet I hate the way it sounds.

How about the subject "him and me" as in "him and me went to the store". I hear it every stinkin' day. Generally, those who use it wouldn't say "me went to the store". Wassup widat?

Luckily I don't run into "him and me" as the subject terribly often, 'cause if I did there'd be violence.

Yeah, it bugs the hell out of me when people don't understand the difference between "your" and "you're". Classic example is when people write "your an idiot!"
