GQ on Gary Johnson

2011-09-25 17:19:40.823017+02 by Dan Lyke 3 comments

GQ talks about Gary Johnson, former Governor of New Mexico and current Republican Presidential Candidate. Worth reading not just for the look at Johnson, but for the looks at how the major news outlets also seem to be covering presidential candidates more for their abilities to stir up controversy than for their electability or even poll standings.

I knew he was a pretty reasonable candidate from earlier coverage, but he really ought to make more of the "there's only one presidential candidate that's viewed favorably in their own state. And that would be me," quote.

It's in the media's best interest to have clowns in office. It's in our best interest to have competent serious intelligent honest and boring people in office.

I find Gary Johnson's life to be far from boring but he also seems far from leading a neurotic lifestyle full of dysfunction like the bulk of other candidates seem to be leading. Of course the networks are looking for their next reality TV star and they seem to be using the Republican Presidential primary campaign as an audition for it.
