Growing number of car sharing rentals for non-driving purposes. Orix Auto Corp, Times24, NTT Docomo referenced. Two factors worth noting: Subsidies for cars probably make a lot of these desires or an individually climate controlled quiet space to eat lunch, watch videos, or naps cheaper than other options, but also that cars are well sound-isolated individual environments...

Interesting. That means there's a market for coffin hotels and temporary workspaces. Getting into the workspace business would probably be easier; hotels are likely heavily regulated.

I suspect the real problem is that, even in Japan, given the subsidies for cars and parking, there's no way to economically build these spaces without piggybacking on auto infrastructure.
