My first bowl turning experience Got 3

My first bowl turning experience! Got 3 blanks roughed out, now they'll sit in sawdust for the better part of a year, then we'll turn 'em into bowls. Thank you, Mark! A super cool and contemplative way of making sawdust.

Just FYI, here in NM, where the dewpoint was below zero F most of last week, I rough bowls out, and leave them sitting in open air for a week or two before finish-turning them. Sometimes they warp pretty good, and a half-inch thick wall isn’t enough to get back to round (I either try and end up destroying the bowl, or next time will maybe try finishing by hand with a gouge). But the gratification is a lot less delayed...

Also of note, my dining room table, which was manufactured in Chino, CA, then spent a dozen years in Minnesota, has cracked in multiple spots because of wood movement after moving here to Santa Fe. It’s got a hexagonal white oak top, and apparently they never considered that someone would get it to such absurdly low moisture levels. Oops.
