I don't know about that … HTML 1 was pretty sparse.

Yeah, if we could have had tables, but use them for table-ish things (maybe with float="..."), I'd have been okay with that.

I find HTML 4 and CSS to be good (and I don't use tables at all for layout). I think I could get by with HTML 4.01 strict if it weren't for one or two problematic entries I should probably rethink.

And I feel obligated to point out that I wrote the first Gemini server, before the creator of the protocol wrote a server himself (source code).
But in general, I've found the Gemini document format too limiting for my own tastes.

Yeah, I use this as a place to store my history, and without http(s) urls that kinda gets limiting.
But maybe I just need to suck up that those'll be external links somehow...
