Stealing a radio tower

Does anyone listen to terrestrial radio any more? Thieves somehow steal 200-foot WJLX radio tower.

A radiodiscussions.com forum thread wherein a participant uses Google Street View to determine that the tower disappeared "sometime between October 2022 and March 2023"

Which makes various bits of this narrative questionable, or reinforces that nobody cares about AM radio any more.

I care... a near downtown Chattanooga AM radio station (WNOD) cranks the power up during adverts and bleeds them over PA systems, speakers, microphones and sometimes even car audio.

Been reported multiple times to the FCC.

I think such inadvertent listeners get counted so their listener numbers exceed the 10's.

They just pulled down the tower and transmitter used for the exterior shots of Wolfman Jack's radio station in American Graffiti on Rowena Lane in Petaluma, and yeah, a friend of mine who lives in the shadow of it can now use their land line without hearing voices on it.

Just as land lines are long a relic of the past...
