The ATT@Home saga continues: They blew off the appointment and ignored an email yesterday. The person in their chat room has rescheduled me for next Wednesday. If this doesn't work I'm tempted to go get iDSL or something. Whatever happened to the days of small ISPs and good service?

Dan, I don't know that anyone large enough to offer broadband service to home users would be any different. I got a call last night from Bellsouth wanting to tell me all about their ADSL services.
"Do you have a computer?", the young lady asked.
"Yes and I know about ASDL services are you finally offering it to me?", I asked her back.
"Let me check . . . just a minute . . . no." she replied.
"Well what can you do for me then?", I asked.
"I guess nothing."

And I've put my name on the no-call list here in Tennessee! I guess I'll be stuck with Comcast next.

But Comcast@Home will likely be offer service in your area. They aren't as limited as BellSouth is with ADSL.
