Oh

2025-10-15 20:10:02.245585+02 by Dan Lyke 2 comments

Oh, look at this Liquid Glass ugliness. For work I'm installing Perplexity's Comet browser. It pops up the keychain unlock to import Chrome credentials (yes, I know). I've included part of my system settings so that you can see that "Reduce Transparency" is on. Ugh.

Honestly not surprised. I worked with some apple designers who had gone on to other companies during my BNR days, and they were insufferable. They thought they walked on water design wise, expected pixel-wise accuracy even when the way to do it was slow, and they never deviated from the happy path. We had to have multi-hour meetings with them to find out things "what if the user has two badges. What if this is list empty. What if the username overflows the field here. what if accessibility has the font sized cranked up to eleven".

Seeing hubris + cluelessness when things were actually implemented in the small, does not surprise me that writ large it's a clusterfuck.

Yeah, I'm not sure what I did, but looks like all of the system dialogs, and the pulldowns on the top right (audio, battery, wifi, etc) have transparent backgrounds. And I have all of the settings for transparency turned as "off" as I can get.
