Upgraded my web server Ubuntu, and suddenly Apache won't write the log files where it's been writing the log files for a long time (under my personal home directory). And I have no idea how to debug this, whether it's some new permissions layer, or...?

Also rewriting C++ because a package I was using has disappeared.

I think the future kinda sucks. I suspect it's time for me to learn one of the BSDs and compile all my own stuff from scratch rather than depending on packages.
