Run Robot, Run

(I hereby proclaim this Robot News Week)

A 'thinking' robot attempted to escape from the Magna science centre in London, where it and its buddies were being studied for their ability to learn. Gaak made it to the main parking entrance before almost being run over by a visitor's car.

Oooooh. So what happens when this happens as autonomous 'bots start to make inroads in the heavier classes at BattleBots? I'm envisioning machined magnesium wedges rampaging across the Bay Bridge from Treasure Island, flipping cars on their way into the Financial District...

Dan your sick! and twisted and I think I'm gonna start drafting some design specs. Good call Shawn, it does seem to be bot week at Flutterby...

(Sorry, we already proclaimed it National Rail Passenger Cruelty Week here in Baltimore.)

I'm curious why Gaak tried to leave the building. What data and heuristics drove it to seek the parking lot, as opposed to somewhere else in the building. Sunlight? Temperature?

Ah Petej, now your attaching too much credit to the bot for "thinking". It's software probably kept it from continuously ramming the same wall but it's a particle that just happened to bounce out into the parking lot. I think it's rather cool how we"humans" have crafted a story about Gaak's escape from slavery based on these events. How can you have a "national" holiday in just Baltimore? ....sniff sniff...oh sarcasum, sorry sometimes it's had for me to smell it as I am almost constantly stewing in it :)
