And if that were my kid? OUTTA THERE. Immediately. No fingers to lips trying to shush the kid, no questions asked, no groceries bought, kid goes to room at home for long-term time-out, loses privileges and probably more. And FOR SURE no "sweeties" for a long, long time.

The real answer, though, is that a thoughtful, involved, conscious parent doesn't let it get to that point. Kids can be trained to be civilized; I've done it (and seen it done even better than I did it).

(You knew one of the resident parental types couldn't stay away from this one, right? I'm so glad to fill that role.)
