What if a sports star wasn't getting paid up-front for endorsing a pair of shoes? What if he was actually going to wear those shoes while playing basketball? What if those shoes cost $15?

, a basketball player, is endorsing Starbury shoes, to be sold through a chain called Steve and Barry's University Sportswear, and allegedly he's just getting royalties.

NPR's Morning Edition had a story about Marbury's endeavor yesterday morning. There are mixed reactions to the quality of the shoe, but he claims he will be wearing them on-court all season and there are lines out the door of the stores every morning. He's surely not doing himself any philanthropy dis-favors by sponsoring this endeavor. More power to him, and to the communities this is helping!

Hmmm... We've got a Steve and Barry's in Longmont. I'm looking for some new cross-trainers but it looks like they are all court shoes. Even if the quality isn't the greatest, $15 isn't bad for a pair of beaters.
