A thread on tire boots on the Tandem@Hobbes list deteriorated into discussions of whether a Euro bill would be more effective than a dollar bill for emergency repairs, at which point Wyatt commented that "You have to factor in inflation!"

Ummm .... the dollar is dead. Went on life-support after the Federal Reserve was created back in the 1930's. Officially unplugged by that cretin, Nixon, in the 70's when he closed the Gold standard window. Depression II on the horizon. Get something of real value while you still can (eg. generators/rack server's/backup drives/gold & silver). Get out of debt and lose the gas-guzzler, etc.
"A little revolution now and then is a good thing; the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants." -Thomas Jefferson(1787)
Be happy.

if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and
more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave
such ridicule in place.
