Fred Wilson: Tough Times Ahead For The Web:
I was meeting with a web entrepreneur yesterday. It's something I do at least
five to ten times a week.
This entrepeneur said 'but I worry that the coming downturn might have a
negative impact on my business plan.'
Not 'a possible coming downturn', it was 'the coming downturn.'
And I found myself nodding my head, not challenging that assumption.

Actually I see the web as not being affected by the coming downturn ( http://itulip.com ) .
Using the web is very low cost compared to to other forms of marketing. Print advertising is shrinking - web advertising is growing - 'I interrupt this flutterby for word from our sponsor' - now back to the blog.

they detract from the conversation. Commercial plugs are fine,
if they are relevant to the conversation, and if you don't
try to pretend to be a consumer. Annoying endorsements will be deleted
if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and
more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave
such ridicule in place.
