I guess this is why airplanes never take off in an easterly direction? The spin of the Earth prevents the plane from gaining momentum :P

The problem is only interesting if the airplane is under water... Does the rain in Spain fall mainly on the airplane?

Unfortunately, the Beginner's Guide to Kites fails to mention the attractive force of trees on kites...
