Yeah, I know just enough vi to get by when Emacs doesn't exist on a machine, and I think Emacs is a pale shadow of Brief (although the latter was clearly inspired by the former), an editor that was remarkably emulated with CRiSP, but alas I wa bouncing between a number of different platforms and a number of different computers at one point, and the CRiSP license fees were going to eat me alive, so I settled on re-training my fingers for Emacs and here I am.

Okay, so... I use vim because it's everywhere. Nearly every server I've been on, working or helping friends out, has some version of vim installed, and it helps if I don't have to struggle with re-learning key combinations or having to install extra editors each time I want to give someone a hand. From Ubuntu to Solaris to FreeBSD to Slackware, they all have vim as part of the default install.
(don't burn me at the stake)

This isn't related to the cartoon, but I'm in search of a database and thought someone on Flutterby might be aware of the type site I need. Is there an all inclusive site where you can plug in a commercial household/cosmetic/food product and get a complete listing of ingredients? I'm trying to check some products for allergy purposes and would like a one stop exhaustive location, and haven't found one so far. I'm told from my maintenance and safety director at work that there is a MSDS site under construction that will include printable MSDS sheets for industrial chemicals, but I'm not sure that would include what I'm needing. Thanks for any suggestions.

"Real programmers set the universal constants at the start such that the universe evolves to contain the disk with the data they want."

It's amazing how much text editors equate to religious beliefs according to programmers.
(I use vim)

What does it say about me that I immediately tried that in Emacs?
