A very moving article from Inside Higher Education: a community college teacher testifies on behalf of a murdered student. It is easy to forget how wide the ripples of a death can travel.

One thing I found interesting was the defense attorney trying to beat down the teacher. I suppose attacking the victim is the prime technique when you have a guilty client. It obviously didn't work here, or the other evidence was too strong, but would it ever work?
