I have been somewhat aware that this was coming, but since the winter rains finally came
back out here, I wasn't paying attention as my chances of actually seeing any aurora are
pretty much nil. But Chris passed along the biggest solar flare in years is headed for earth. So all you tech support
people can use "cosmic radiation" as your excuse for the next day or two...

NOAA has some really
technical maps that can help you determine the likelihood of seeing the
Aurora. It's based on past activity and does seem to adjust for increased solar
activity.
