On the one hand, NYC has dedicated very expensive real estate and the funds to set it aside as bike lanes, and it's infuriating to watch bicyclers ignore them.
On the other hand, yes, those lanes are often blocked or driven through and hazards abound.
On the gripping hand, the cops are happy to spend their ticket-writing quota on low-hanging fruit, which often means the bikers.
