I always used an external editor to edit dBase III program files. But every now and then someone would use the built-in editor, which would silently truncate the files at like 4 or 8K

Amusingly, an "ESRI Shapefile" consists of 5 disk files, one of which is a .dbf. So, yep, I'm still occasionally dealing with dBase files.

Heh, dBase. I remember it fondly. In a way I have dBase III to thank for me being where I am today.

If you treat it like dBase, it behaves well.
