I've been thinking about a Flutterby redesign, I may have to rip off their CSS: http://everyfuckingwebsite.com/

Yep. I went "twitter bootstrap" because it's one of the better generic CSS collections of cruft. I use it everywhere... everything looks the same. I don't even change the defaults (although I do like navbar-inverse over just navbar)
It'd be easy to use it with Flutterby, but then I'd have to find another fast loading site with an old skool feel for a sanity check.
User interface design is dead, the lowest common denominators have won.
Option two: Go SVG and Javascript. Remember RIP/Roboterm based BBS's? I've been impressed with how well everything except Microsoft Internet Exploder supports SVG, and I no longer care about people still using only MSIE.
Option three: Pure "HTML 5"
