Glenn Greenwald's partner was detained at Heathrow for 9 hours, under Britain's Terrorism Act 2000. As Andrew Sullivan points out, if we were looking for abuse of "terrorism" powers, we just found it.

Yep. They could have done everything they wanted to far more simply than they did, or even gone legitimate and gotten, I don't know, warrants for things; this was just a "nya nya nya because we can" abuse of power.

It was pretty clear that what they really wanted was any electronic devices and data storage he was carrying. The keeping him locked up for 9 hours thing was just icing on the cake.
