I'm a big supporter of 23andMe and I'm not worried about their survival, but they really do need to be watched/challenged on their claims. This is new stuff and the veracity of their claims MUST be challenged or this entire industry will become rife with snake oil peddlers .

That is the nicest and most comprehensive letter I have seen from a government agency in a while. I've been following 23andme a little, because it's a great idea, has a solid scientific underpinnings, but seems to have been stretched into unsupported claims. If marketed to Doctors, and results relayed through them it would probably be a $1k+ test.

Commercial plugs are fine, if they are relevant to the conversation, and if you don't try to pretend to be a consumer. Annoying endorsements will be deleted if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave such ridicule in place.
