Re the outroar and uprage over the "Peeple" service, ie: Everyone you know will be able to rate you on the terrifying ‘Yelp for people’ — whether you want them to or not. So what I'm hearing is that we're trending towards ★☆☆☆☆ reviews for any Yelp for Yelp for [anything] service.
BTW, it seems like the right thing to do for this Peeple service is to never sign up.

You can't opt out 0 once someone puts your name in the Peeple system, it's there unless you violate the site's terms of service.
Uh, yeah: I'm going to be violating that site's terms of service so hard.

If I understand it right, anyone who knows your cell number can rate you even if you don't sign up. Then you get a text message from Peeple saying, basically, "If you sign up you can see what they said about you."
I don't know if this means those ratings do not become public unless you sign up, but it sure seems like a short walk to "Pay us some money and we'll remove you from our site."
