Yeah, it's probably time to break down and buy a decent trim router (I know that spending $30 on a router is gonna cost me way more than that in frustration).

Oh, a cheap speed-adjustable router should work as well.

Does Dremel make one with a collet that'll take a 1/4" shank? I have both a Craftsman and ... another ... Dremel knock-off, but they're both limited to smaller shanks.

Dremel is the go-to for this. Of course, Horror Fright makes a bargain equivalent.
