Credibility

The point Shadow has been making: RT @emptywheel:

This is a subtweet:

That Kavanaugh was not credible about Dr. Ford should make folks realize that he was not credible on warrantless wiretapping, torture, judicial philosophy, using stolen emails, and Kozinski.

Well, it's all academic now.

They tried, especially given the baseball debts and weird home mortgage dealing, but got no traction there...

>If it is reasonable to think that a Supreme Court justice can be bought so cheap, the nation is in deeper trouble than I had imagined

Gee, too bad the democrats hung the whole question of his confirmation on a high school allegation instead of following this.

Back in 2004 Antonin Scalia took a trip with Dick Cheney that caused people to question his credibility on some issues, and Scalia wrote

If it is reasonable to think that a Supreme Court justice can be bought so cheap, the nation is in deeper trouble than I had imagined

And many of us said "yes, yes it is". I think the main thing that ramming Kavanaugh through is gonna do, beside the Gamble case, is further erode the belief in the viability of the Supreme Court, and therefore the basic mechanism of government.

I don't think we'll see armed revolt any time soon, but I do expect that we'll see a lot more suggestion that the coastal states secede. This could mean a lot of destruction of federal authority.

This Kavanaugh thing is seriously break things, it may wind up being the trigger for serious revolt, despite being a relatively silly matter. Kavanaugh is either perfectly guilty or perfectly innocent, depending on who you're listening to.

I expect Kavanaugh to be confirmed, and I expect calls for revolt against the government to follow.
