It’s one thing when host-nation partners turn coat and shoot you in the back. That is just the cost of doing business. In 2012 the US instituted the “Guardian Angel” policy, under which soldiers interacting with host-nation forces were required to have their own guards to stop insider attacks. Now our own guys are turning on one another over slush funds and hookers.
If this all seems sickeningly normal that’s because it is normal.
