Charlene got herself a scroll saw. I borrowed some time on it today to learn a little bit about how intarsia works. Stacked 3 pieces of wood, cut out some shapes, reassembled them in a different order. Normally you bevel the cuts to make the gaps narrower, I'm still working on that technique.

We've got a couple of local artists who do workshops (I got turned on to this at a Sonoma County Woodworker's Association meeting a few years ago where one who used CNC and lasers and one who used more hand-oriented techniques gave presentations on their different techniquess), if I go too far in this direction I'll probably hit up one of those.
Though I think what I need to do is retrofit the scroll saw to handle spiral blades (and thinner blades)...

I’ve been pondering taking a course from either The American School of French Marquetry or The Canadian School of French Marquetry. The latter is run by Paul, the shipwright from Lumberjocks. Plus it’s more scenic than San Diego.
Probably won’t be in 2019, but maybe in 2020. In any case, if you’re interested in taking a course, let me know and maybe I’ll sign up at the same time. Seems like it might be a fun thing.
