Copied over from my comment on FB:

My personal threat model doesn't currently involve nation state actors, although I have, at various times, worked for entities for whom that was a concern, but there are reasons I don't have a smart TV, or an Alexa or Google Home, and I'm even a little concerned about some of the other devices which have microphones that I carry around with me...

The other thing to consider is that it's remarkable how many nefarious technologies aren't only exploited by nation state actors; how many of those technologies are also just being casually exploited by other bad guys; malware authors, extortionists, Facebook, those sorts of players.

I don't like smart TVs, I can buy a Roku to do the same thing and more for less money, but buying a dumb TV is getting more and more difficult. This gives me even more reason to not like smart TVs.
