It's hard to keep up with the idiocy out of Washington, but apparently yesterday there was some comment about how some sort of "cubic model" showed COVID-19 deaths dropping to 0 relatively shortly. RT Sam Wang @SamWangPhD
Uncharitable view: one could take a bunch of data points and get an equation of the form y=a*x^3+b*x^2+c*x+d to go through the points.
However, that would be a completely boneheaded approach to the data, and lead to uninterpretable nonsense.
They didn't do that....did they?

The universities' model had shown that reopening at the end of May was the only scenario that didn't dramatically increase cases.
