Yeah, Snopes has a good rundown on the current situation with whether or not Feds are identifiable when they're detaining people: https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/feds-unmarked-vans-portland/

Although the various discussions of DHS officials talking about "proactively policing" are not assuaging my fears.

Update: So there was a court hearing regarding the *two* instances of the Feds bring in someone for questioning. In the hearing it was shown that the Feds were wearing insignia that said "Police", and had organization and unit insignia, enough to track them down. The people were not arrested, they were detained for questioning, and they were not detained in place because the Feds didn't want to be swarmed by <s>protesters</s> rioters while they were doing it.

The ruling also said the Feds did *not* have reasonable suspicion to perform the detention. The persons detained may be able to sue on this basis.

In any case, the judge decided to *not* grant the State's motion to restrict the Feds from performing arrests.

Definitely can't agree with law enforcement running around without badges in unmarked vehicles making arrests from out of the blue. How do you tell that apart from a kidnapping?
