The existence of a complex analytical tool says things about the environment in which it will be used. Example: XCode's view hierarchy inspector. Aaaaaaaaack!

It's also a royal PITA to quickly see that, oh yes, that view is somehow mostly off the other view, because of constraints you have no idea existed, but the view hierarchy explorer shows the views as clipped, so *that*'s why the content is weirdly clipped.

my favorite with that is the extremely obtuse feature nobody would ever ever want to use "this view I see here, show it in the hierarchy", until xcrud 12 could only be done with an obscure key chord. Things like "horizontal scroll bars so you can see deep hierarchies" is still beyond them.
