I've been ignoring this whole election thing (except for the parodies and satire) because I've felt up to now that the system will work itself out, and since it was really a tie it doesn't matter who "won", nobody's got a mandate. But I'm not so sure, after my vacation last week I heard some ugly rumours, and today Salon's got a recap of the Republican attempt to override law with mob.

Giggle. Nawww, Salon has been in trouble ever since they started trying to go for an "edgey only to the midwest" feel. As for the bodies, every report I've read has said that they most certainly weren't local, and came in on a few organized bus trips from various other states. Whatever, if this whole process has any positive outcome it'll be exposing just how moronic both groups are.

Puh-leeze. Except perhaps for some local efforts to round up bodies, there was no organized Republican attempt to override law with mob. Trust me; we're talking about the same sort of people who go after abortion clinics. It wouldn't have taken much organization to trigger a REAL mess. Buildings would have been torn down or blown open. What you had in Florida was a bunch of people who'd heard nothing in the news except chads and court and that Floridians were all stupid, and intimations of Democratic officials manufacturing votes, and wanted the whole thing to end.
