Charlene just suggested that MacOS was annoying enough that she should switch from her MacBook Air back to her clunky decade-old Linux laptop. I think we can de-annoy it, but good job Apple on talking basic concepts and fucking them up so badly with constant attempts to coerce people into subscription bullshit and taking control of document management.

Yeah, I should see if Linux on the 2018 MBP will deal with the missing escape key, and if her Air will run Linux nicely. As much as it'd be cool to run work project, the Mac is just not a reasonable platform for a daily driver.

Depending on the MacBook, it may be a very nice Linux box. Intel MacBooks are well supported, and @Marcan@treehouse.systems has been getting Asahi up and running well on the Apple Silicon machines (to the point where if you’re installing some other Unix, you probably run the Asahi installer to get started).

Haven't had that issue with Nancy yet, but it was a topic at the weekends geek get together where most of the spouses were iOS/Mac users.
On decent hardware, POP_OS! and some of the other better distro's are incredible user experiences.
