Trent Lott, closet Democrat?

Who'd o' thunk? Trent Lott appears to be a closet Democrat. Lott against Bush plan to cut corporate welfare and for fetal stem cell research.

I got Hall's Three Rules from a friend's .sig file many years ago, and I don't know where he got them from. In full, they are:

  1. The voters want fewer taxes and more spending.
  2. Citizens want honest government until they want something fixed.
  3. Constituency always outweighs consistency; for example, conservatives will vote for social spending, and liberals for defense spending, in their own districts.

Which "Hall"? I did a few web searches and came up with nothing definitive.

Yet another shining example of Hall's Third Rule of Politics: Constituency always outweighs consistency.
