Didn't get a picture of it this morning, but as the ferry docked (and that commute was a nightmare...) looking south under the Bay Bridge there were lots of container ships at anchor, waiting for the lockout on the ports to lift. I'm wondering what effects this is going to have on the economy, it won't be good to have at least a week's worth of inventory stopped up, then suddenly flowing back into the system.

Lockout, yes, but only after productivity dropped better than 50% all along the coast last weekend.

I'm not usually a fan of unions, but all the union representatives I've heard have made it quite clear that this is a lock-out, not a strike. So it seems really shady for Ari Fleischer to be saying: "You are hurting your fellow workers in unions in other parts of the country whose jobs depend on the products you ship."
Shadow, any info on when and where? Searching on terms like "port" and "strike" just pull up hundreds of pages on the current situation.

Heh. The last time that union struck, the stoppage lasted something like half a YEAR.
