I was looking at buying a Tom Robinson CD, when I realized that I didn't know if his record label was an RIAA member or not. I'm still not sure, but I did find the "Just say no to the RIAA" page, with a list of labels that aren't. Need a better database to track these things.

Well, ok, partaking of live music might have had something to do with it, too. That's gotta be some kinda counterweight to arguments of old fartism. :-)

So far this year I've been pretty surprised at how little this is costing me. Even including online fees for tickets, I still haven't crossed $20. I'm not sure if that's more about turning into an old fart or embracing my inner usenet. But, the Matrix is coming (and the other Matrix, and LOTR, and...)

Thanks for the reminder, Pete. Yesterday's purchase of XP Professional should be countered with some cash to SPI and the FSF.

Every time I do something that puts money into the hands of the RIAA or MPAA, I make an equal donation to the EFF.
Go to a movie, that's an $8 to the donation. By a CD, add $15. Buy a DVD, add $20. I've thought about it, and I think I should value my freedom at least as much as my entertainment. And show it.
