Dan goes cynical

If I were totally cynical, which I'm not, I'd set up a web site with a betting pool for which day in October of this year Osama bin Laden will be captured.

U.S. military feels renewed urgency in hunt for bin Laden:

"The sands in their hour glass are running out," Lt. Col. Matthew Beevers, a spokesman for the U.S. military in Afghanistan, said of bin Laden and other fugitives.

How much sand...?

Larry thinks I'm being too cynical, but remember that it wouldn't take holding him somewhere in secret, it'd just take keeping intelligence that pinpoints his location throttled. However, generally I agree that this is a little bit too cynical.

David Chess had a link to some compelling arguments that Al-Qaida Will Do Whatever It Takes To Assure Bush Is Re-elected.

I'll take October 11, for the symbolism.

September 11th is also nearly two months before the election. That's longer than a president can be sure of riding the glow into re-election.

I'm betting sometime in October....because if it were closer to 9.11, they it would be too obvious.

Take a look at this: http://www.tradesports.com

Look under Current Events->Intl Events. You can buy or sell futures contracts on Osama bin Laden's capture in March, June, September, or December.
