Trained Monkey provides us with a link to my QOTD, from Kragen Sitaker describing "enterprise software":
Enterprise software is software that gets sold to a so-called
enterprise. If you know English well, you might think an
“enterprise” is something brave, noble, and dangerous, like
starting a small business, but in this case, “enterprise” is
used to mean the opposite: it means a large, risk-averse
company, whose executives use the term to flatter themselves
by pretending that they’re engaged in something brave, noble,
and dangerous.

I have not added something to the Dot Bomb Dictionary in a long time, Thank You!
We will not edit your comments. However, we may delete your
comments, or cause them to be hidden behind another link, if we feel
they detract from the conversation. Commercial plugs are fine,
if they are relevant to the conversation, and if you don't
try to pretend to be a consumer. Annoying endorsements will be deleted
if you're lucky, if you're not a whole bunch of people smarter and
more articulate than you will ridicule you, and we will leave
such ridicule in place.
