Garage sales

Google Maps apparently has an API that lets you put little flags on it. Here's an app that hasn't been done yet, would take a few hours, and would be very helpful but no paper is clued in enough to do it: Scan the garage sale classifieds, and give me a map with all of 'em on it.

It looks like they bought one of those waaay to expensive .com CMS packages and now barely know how to use it. They seem to be stuck in the "web page is a teaser for the dead trees version" mode of thinking. I keep thinking that as locally involved as many Marinites are that there'd be a way to leverage some of that into a community weblog that'd have much better local issues coverage than the IJ does, but I haven't found the other people to make that come together yet.

I'm surprised the IJ is able to cobble together a web page. Sadly, it has no RSS feeds. I'd be surprised if they knew what an RSS feed was. Recently they ran a political cartoon that dissed blogs. I think they're starting to feel the heat.

Or open houses or salesmans calls to make, or <paranoia> the location of all gun owners when they come to take our guns ... </paranoia>
